My Story

hey, I'm Laura

The honest version of how I got here involves a call centre, a van in New Zealand, and years of trying to make web design work before I accidentally fell into the thing I was actually meant to do.

I left for Southeast Asia in November 2019, the plan was a year away to get the travel bug out of our system. COVID had other ideas and we ended up in New Zealand for nine months, living in a van, doing 7 weeks of lockdown in a cabin in the middle of nowhere.

I came home wanting more freedom than any office job was ever going to give me. Tried web design, loved the tech, loved the systems, but something was always slightly off.

Then I found VA work. And that was it really. Launched officially in May 2024 and nearly two years later I’ve still got most of my original clients, almost everyone has come through word of mouth, and I wake up every day actually wanting to do my job.

Which, coming from someone who used to sit in a call centre listening to a beep in her ear for 11 hours is not something I take for granted!

I get outside every single day because it keeps me sane. I don’t work past 5 and I don’t work weekends because if I’m running on empty I can’t show up properly for my clients. Boundaries aren’t a buzzword for me, they’re just how this works.
